Addressing Development Delays

The intent of this strategy is to ensure that all children have access to high-quality preventive and continuous health care, including physical, mental, oral and nutritional health. It provides emotional and developmental support to families of young children with special needs that do not otherwise qualify for IDEA Part B or Part C services in an effort to aid them with strategies that support their child’s healthy development.

Maricopa Regions

To avoid duplication of efforts and leverage work occurring at the statewide level, the Maricopa regional councils shifted from their countywide focus to support the work of Arizona’s Comprehensive System to Meet the Developmental Needs of Children State Partners Groups led by First Things First.

Regional council members and FTF staff are actively participating in these workgroups, which are focusing on strategies to understand and build the system serving families of children with developmental delays. From this work, an assessment and/or pilot projects designed to enhance the system will be identified to implement within Maricopa County in the upcoming year.
