And numerous studies have demonstrated that children with access to quality early learning are more prepared for kindergarten. They have increased vocabulary, better language, math and social skills, more positive relationships with classmates and they score higher on school-readiness assessments.<\/p>\n<p>According to a recent national\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/220541\/superintendents-say-little-invested-early-education.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gallup Poll study<\/a>\u00a0of U.S. public school superintendents, 77 percent\u00a0of superintendents say &#8220;early childhood care and education has &#8216;a great deal&#8217; of impact on the long-term success of students in school.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>School superintendents across Arizona agree. Belo w, some of these school leaders share why school readiness that is developed during a child&#8217;s first five years is critical to later student success<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6170 alignleft\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/scholl-1.png\" alt=\"Scholl\" width=\"322\" height=\"322\" \/>&#8220;Early childhood education (ECE) is a vital first step to ensuring success throughout a studen&#8217;ts Prek to 12 educational career and beyond. ECE helps shrink the achievment gap for those students in at-risk populations such as English language learners and special needs students.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><b>John Scholl, Superintendent<br \/>\n<\/b>Chino Valley Unified School District<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"file:\/\/\/C:\/Users\/nkennedy\/AppData\/Local\/Temp\/OICE_434E7603-816A-45D2-82BC-316E3DBDBBA4.0\/msohtmlclip1\/01\/clip_image004.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6171 alignright\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/doering.png\" alt=\"doering\" width=\"322\" height=\"322\" \/>Early childhood care and education &#8220;helps children persist, it helps them with social skills, they are more likely to hold down a job when they get older, they are more likely not to be arrested, to graduate high school. Really what we are doing is teaching them those skills early and young so they have multiple opportunities to practice them.&#8221;<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><b>Laurie Doering, Superintendent<br \/>\n<\/b>Crane School District\u00a0(Yuma)<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6172 alignleft\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/spiller.png\" alt=\"Spiller\" width=\"322\" height=\"322\" \/>&#8220;Personally, based on research and experience, I have concluded that children that are cognitively, emotionally, socially, and physically on track and adjusted by the end of their first grade year in school are more apt to become successful adults.
