We know that young children are especially sensitive to situations causing stress in their environments and among their adult caregivers. First Things First, Arizona\u2019s early childhood agency, is committed to providing parents and caregivers with information and resources to support young children emotionally as we experience rising concerns about the coronavirus (COVID-19).<\/p>\n<p>Below are some resources to help you talk with your toddler or preschooler about the coronavirus. A top tip? Keep it simple and age-appropriate. For example, \u201cWe\u2019re taking a break from playing with others so we can all stay healthy.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerotothree.org\/resources\/3210-tips-for-families-coronavirus\">Tips for Families: Coronavirus<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our partners at <strong>ZERO TO THREE<\/strong> offer several excellent resources and tips for families, including age-appropriate responses to common questions and activities for young children while social distancing.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-28773\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ftf-stg.magnetry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/ztt-logo.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"364\" height=\"139\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>PBS Kids for Parents<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>PBS Kids offers a wealth of helpful articles and videos, including:<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/parents\/thrive\/how-to-talk-to-your-kids-about-coronavirus\">How to Talk to Your Kids About Coronavirus<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/parents\/thrive\/how-you-and-your-kids-can-de-stress-during-coronavirus\">How You and Your Kids Can De-Stress During Coronavirus<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-28774\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ftf-stg.magnetry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/pbskids_parents.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"530\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swhd.org\/programs\/health-and-development\/birth-to-five-helpline\/\"><strong>Birth to Five Helpline<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Supported by First Things First, the <strong>Birth to Five Helpline<\/strong> is a free service available to all Arizona families and caregivers of young children. Having someone to talk with or lend an empathetic ear is more important than ever. The Helpline&#8217;s early childhood experts are available by phone, text or email to answer any parenting questions, from basic health and nutrition to how to handle challenging behaviors and more. Helpline specialists can also help you think about how to talk with children in an appropriate way about what is going on in our world and all you are doing to keep them and their families safe. You can ask about fun, age-appropriate activities you can do at home with your child or children.
